What Does Roll Size Mean in Rockfall Netting Rolls?

In rockfall netting roll specifications, roll size means the width and length of one finished roll. It is usually written in a format such as 2x25m, 2x50m or 1.2x25m.

Roll size is not the mesh opening, and it is not the wire diameter. It only describes the supplied roll dimensions.

Roll Size Means Roll Width and Roll Length

For example, 2x25m usually means:

2m roll width + 25m roll length

In other words, one roll is 2 meters wide and 25 meters long.

If the specification is written as 2x50m, the roll width may still be 2 meters, but the roll length is 50 meters. The roll area, roll weight, handling method and site distribution may be different.

Roll Size Does Not Replace the Full Specification

Writing only the roll size does not explain the complete product.

For example:

This wording only tells the roll dimensions. It does not state the mesh wire diameter, mesh opening or surface treatment.

A clearer specification is:

The Same Total Area May Use Different Roll Sizes

In some discussions, the buyer may start with the total area, such as the required square meters of rockfall netting. Total area and single-roll size are not the same thing.

For the same total area, 2x25m rolls and 2x50m rolls can lead to different roll counts, single-roll weights, handling needs and site distribution plans.

This is why roll size should be stated as a separate specification item instead of being replaced by total square meters alone.
